White masterbaches constitutes the second
largest masterbaches production of all the masterbaches though various white
pigments can be used to make these white masterbaches, Titanium dioxide is
largely used in plastic applications because of its unique properties.
The main feature of Titanium dioxide is its excellent whiteness, highest
opacity and in conjunction with colored pigments, the brightest and cleanest
pastel shades.
Pracol white masterbaches are unique in their way in that they contain "Special
Additives" which make the resin to follow easily so that all the
particles of TiO2 get wetted. And also the special surface with resin. This
results is the intimate bond formation between the Tio2 and resin. The high
shear followed by high specific energy applied in our process results in the
breakdown of agglomerates into primary aggregates which in turn get reduced
to primary particles ultimately resulting in property enhancement of the end
product.
Pracol white masterbaches are highly filled and free of low molecular waxes
used to aid, dispersion.

As a key additive in many types of
plastic resins, carbon black can impart a variety of desirable
characteristics, including color, protection from UV radiation and
conductivity.
Carbon black has always been the most widely used black pigment because of
its coloring ability, cost effectiveness and performance.
Simple coloring requires only enough carbon black to achieve opacity -@
0.5% loading. The undertone exhibited by carbon black ranges from warm brown
to alcohol blue. Carbon blacks with blue undertones are often favored
because of their perceived higher jetness. Tint strength is the relative
ability of the carbon black to darken a colored resin. Gloss level can range
from a very shiny appearance to a matte finish.
Carbon blacks are composed of spherical partials ranging in diameter from
10 to 100 nm. and in surface area from 25 to 150 m2/g. Surface area, in
turn, affects jetness (intensity of black color) and UV resistance of the
carbon black. Grater surface area increase both jetness and UV resistance
because more surface is optically available for absorption of visible &
UV light.
Pracol color masterbatches are
manufactured by dispersing pigments in a suitable carrier. Pigments are
insoluble substances, which impart color to the material in which they are
incorporated. Pigments can be organic or inorganic in nature, natural or
chemically synthesized. At "Prayag" we keep in mind following
points during the selection of pigments for the manufacturing of
masterbaches.
Check list for selection of pigments
- Pigment should be heat stable i.e. they should not degrade or
discolor at the processing temperatures.
- Pigment should be non-migrating and non-bleeding in nature so
that they do not bloom or bleed out of the product during use.
- Pigments must have adequate light stability so that the color of
the product does not fade or change during its useful life.
- Pigments should not have any adverse effect on the properties of
polymers so that the product fails in service.
- Pigments should be free of any toxic impurities if the end
products is to be used for food, cosmetic or medical packing.
